Psalm 1 lays out the blueprint for a blessed life. Happiness is found by avoiding worldly counsel, standing apart from sin, and delighting in God’s Word. A righteous person meditates on Scripture day and night, becoming like a tree planted by streams of water, yielding fruit in season, and prospering in life. The ungodly, however, are like chaff blown away by the wind, unable to stand in judgment or join the righteous. The psalm emphasizes living in the world but not of the world, delighting in God’s Word, and bearing spiritual fruit through the power of the Holy Spirit.

Pastor Mike warns believers about the reality and danger of false teachers who secretly infiltrate the church, motivated by greed and corruption. Through biblical examples—the judgment of fallen angels, the flood in Noah’s day, and the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah—God’s justice is revealed, yet His mercy is seen in rescuing the righteous like Noah and Lot. The message challenges us to recognize that shepherding involves both feeding and warning, to avoid choosing the “easy path” that leads to compromise, and to cling urgently to Christ as our only refuge and anchor of truth.

In 2 Peter 2:1–11, we are warned that false teachers will come, twisting truth and leading many astray with greed and deception. Yet God’s justice is sure—He judged the fallen angels, the flood generation, and Sodom, and He will not overlook falsehood today. At the same time, He proves Himself faithful, preserving those who belong to Him, just as He rescued Noah and Lot. This passage calls us to be discerning, anchored in God’s Word, and confident that the Lord knows how to keep His people safe while bringing justice on the ungodly.

In this powerful message titled “Kept,” we explore 1 Peter 1:4–10, where Peter reminds us of the living hope we have in Christ—an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for us. Even through trials, God is refining our faith like gold, proving it genuine and preparing us for praise, glory, and honor when Jesus is revealed.

This sermon dives deep into the truth that God not only saves us—He keeps us. Through seasons of grief, testing, and waiting, our faith is being strengthened for something eternal. It helps us reflect on how trials are not signs of abandonment, but evidence of God's preserving power at work.

The supernatural work of God is not just a story from the early church—it’s a living reality for every believer today. God’s power is not limited by our circumstances, our failures, or even death itself. We see this in the miraculous healing of Jerry, who was medically dead for 30 minutes, and in the ongoing testimony of changed lives among us. The book of Acts reminds us that the same Spirit who filled the apostles and empowered their witness is at work in us, calling us to be continually filled, because we “leak” and need His presence daily.

In the early days of the church, we see a powerful move of the Holy Spirit, marked by unity, generosity, and a deep sense of God’s presence. The believers were not only proclaiming the resurrection of Jesus with boldness, but they were also living out the gospel in practical ways—caring for one another, meeting needs, and demonstrating radical obedience. There was a spirit of great grace among them, a lavish outpouring of God’s favor that brought peace, joy, and wisdom. No one in the community lacked anything, because those who had more than they needed freely gave, selling extra properties and possessions to provide for the needs of others.
Peter’s words in 1 Peter 2 come to a church under intense persecution, a people who were literally being martyred for their faith. Yet, God’s word to them—and to us—is not to promise an escape from suffering, but to call us to live as those who belong to another world, even as we walk through the pain and injustice of this one. Suffering, whether on a grand scale like the tragedies we see in the news or in the personal injustices we endure, is not outside of God’s sovereign hand. He allows it, sometimes for reasons we cannot understand, but always with the purpose of refining us, displaying His glory, and proving that He is worthy of our praise even when life is hard.

Drawing from Psalm 73, the journey begins with honest confession—recognizing how easy it is to slip into bitterness when life feels unfair and others appear to thrive without regard for righteousness. The psalmist, Asaph, voices a universal human experience: the temptation to question the value of purity and faithfulness when the wicked seem to prosper and the faithful suffer.

This message opens with a portrait of Peter—impulsive, bold, often off-base—yet transformed by the Spirit of God into a foundational leader in the early Church. Drawing from 1 Peter 1:1–2, we see Peter address believers who are exiled and scattered, reminding them of their true identity: chosen by God the Father, sanctified by the Spirit, and cleansed by the blood of Jesus.

Through Peter’s backstory—from denying Christ to being restored and called to “feed my sheep”—we’re reminded that spiritual growth is a process of grace. God doesn’t call the qualified; He qualifies the called. These verses are rich with doctrine but wrapped in a very pastoral tone of encouragement, reminding suffering believers that they belong to God, and His grace and peace are multiplied to them—even in exile.

In this powerful passage from Ephesians 5:22–32, the Apostle Paul paints a beautiful and challenging picture of marriage rooted in Christ’s love for the Church. Wives are called to respect and support their husbands, while husbands are commanded to love their wives sacrificially—just as Christ loved the Church and gave Himself up for her. This isn’t about control or inequality; it’s about mutual submission, deep honor, and a covenant that mirrors the sacred bond between Jesus and His bride, the Church.

Join us as we unpack the deeper meaning behind these verses and explore how God’s design for marriage brings life, unity, and purpose. Whether you’re married, engaged, or simply seeking to understand biblical love, this passage offers timeless wisdom and hope.

In Luke 7, we witness a powerful moment of worship and brokenness as a woman—known only by her past—kneels at Jesus’s feet, weeping, washing His feet with her tears, and pouring out costly perfume. While others judged her, Jesus saw her heart. This message reminds us that true worship flows from a place of deep gratitude. The greater the forgiveness, the greater the love. Whether you've walked with Christ for years or you're still unsure if you belong at His feet, this story shows us that no one is too far gone to be embraced by His mercy.

Despite his chains and the uncertainty of his future, Paul’s focus is not on his own suffering, but on the flourishing and unity of the church. He models a life that is not self-centered, but Christ-centered, urging believers to live in a way that reflects the humility and love of Jesus. Paul’s joy, even in dire circumstances, is rooted in his unwavering confidence in Christ and his desire to see others grow in faith.

As we move into Ephesians chapter 4, the focus shifts from understanding what God has done for us to how we are to live in response. The Christian life is not about striving to earn God’s love or favor, but about resting in the finished work of Christ. Before we can “walk” in a manner worthy of our calling, we must first learn to “sit”—to rest in the truth that God’s love for us is perfect, unearned, and unchangeable. Many stumble in their faith because they try to live out Christian duties without first being rooted in the reality of God’s grace. Our obedience and desire to grow flow out of gratitude for what He has already accomplished, not as a means to gain His approval.

This is not just a historical event, but a model for every believer today. Pentecost, often misunderstood, was originally a joyful festival celebrating the harvest, and it was during this time that God chose to pour out the Holy Spirit in a new and powerful way.
Paul’s life is a powerful testimony to the grace and sovereignty of God. Once a zealous persecutor of the church, Paul was radically transformed by a direct revelation from Jesus Christ. This encounter not only changed his heart but also set him on a path to become the apostle to the Gentiles—a role that would have seemed unthinkable given his background. Through Paul, God revealed a mystery that had been hidden for ages: that both Jews and Gentiles are united as heirs together in Christ, sharing equally in the promises of God. This was a revolutionary truth, one that brought Paul both great joy and intense suffering.

Acts chapter 3 gives us a powerful window into how God works the miraculous through ordinary people who are simply available, attentive, and obedient. Peter and John, on their way to the temple for prayer, encounter a man who has been lame from birth, begging at the gate called Beautiful. This man’s need is obvious, but what unfolds is not just a story of physical healing—it’s a lesson in how God’s people can become conduits of His power when they live with spiritual sensitivity, flexibility, and humility.

Ephesians 2 opens our eyes to the profound reality of our spiritual condition before Christ and the immeasurable grace that God has poured out on us through Jesus. Our natural state, apart from Christ, is not just one of weakness or imperfection, but of spiritual death—a separation from the very purpose for which we were created: to know, love, and serve God. This is the “walking dead” condition, where people may be physically alive but spiritually cut off, meandering through life without true direction, driven by the cravings and desires of the flesh, and influenced by the world and the enemy.

Today marks a significant moment as we reflect on the birth of the Church in Acts 2, the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out in power upon the first believers. This was not just a historical event, but a living reality that continues to be essential for every follower of Jesus. While all who believe in Christ have the Holy Spirit within them, there is a distinct empowering—the “upon” experience—that God desires for each of us. This empowering is not about emotional highs or outward signs, but about being equipped to live the life God calls us to, to witness boldly, and to walk in the gifts and fruit of the Spirit.

The early church was marked by a deep hunger for God’s Word. They didn’t just listen passively; they allowed the Word to transform their hearts and minds. This is a call for us to approach Scripture with open hearts, asking God what He wants to say and do in us. Alongside this, genuine fellowship—koinonia—was central. It wasn’t about surface-level interactions or cliques, but about opening our lives to one another, sharing burdens, and praying for each other. True fellowship means moving beyond small talk and being willing to be vulnerable, to listen, and to care. We see a model for what it means to live as a Spirit-filled community: steadfast in the apostles’ teaching, devoted to fellowship, breaking bread together, and committed to prayer.

Jonah's anger at God's mercy towards the Ninevites reveals a deeper issue within him—a lack of compassion and an inflated sense of self-righteousness. He is more concerned with his reputation and personal comfort than with the salvation of an entire city. This is a reminder that God's ways are higher than ours, and His mercy extends beyond our understanding. God's questions to Jonah are not for His own knowledge but to prompt Jonah to reflect on his heart's condition. These questions challenge us to examine our own attitudes towards God's mercy and our willingness to extend it to others.

In our journey through the book of Jonah, we explore the profound lessons embedded in this narrative, which is often mistakenly relegated to children's stories. Jonah, a prophet of God, is called to deliver a message to Nineveh, a city known for its wickedness. However, Jonah's reluctance and eventual flight from God's command reveal a deeper struggle within him—a struggle that many of us can relate to. Jonah's story is not just about a man swallowed by a great fish; it's about the human tendency to run from God's call, the consequences of disobedience, and the boundless mercy of God.
